Northridge Prep Middle School offers a unique education for boys. At Northridge we seek to instill in the students an enthusiasm for learning, to provide them with the skills they need to succeed in the world and academia, and to help them know themselves better, so that they are able to enter into manhood with a love for learning and the habits necessary to become scholars, workers, and gentlemen.
By means of a curriculum tailored to meet the needs of adolescent boys, Northridge Prep guides the students through these vital years of education through challenging work and constant encouragement and support. The middling age is a complex time, when boys are coming to know themselves and the world around them. It is important during these years that they learn to use their freedom in a way that strengthens their character and fosters true friendship. The personal development of each boy is an integral part of the school mission. All the students at Northridge Prep receive an advisor who assists the parents in the education of the whole person: physically, morally, intellectually, and spiritually.
There are many opportunities for the boys to grow at Northridge Prep. The Liberal Arts Curriculum is an introduction into the traditional academic disciplines (English, History, Math, Science, Religion, and Foreign Language) that will prepare them for further studies. All the teachers approach their subject matter with a view towards the personal development of each student, taking into account the various ways that boys learn, seeking to promote their talents, and challenging them in areas where they need the most help.
The Enrichment Experience at Northridge is a wonderful avenue for enthusiasm and creativity for the boys. There are many activities that the Enrichment Experience provides which allow the students to broaden their educational horizon. Students can play an instrument in Band, hone their technology skills in Computer Class, learn more about sports strategy in Sports Class, discover the world in Current Events Class, learn to draw/sketch in Art Class, and experience everything from Woodcutting to Fencing in the Other Class (a multi-experience class tailored for adolescent boys).
There are also various extra-curricular activities available to the students throughout the year:
Athletics Program: Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, Track and Field, and Cross-Country
Drama Club: Two plays per year (one is usually a musical)
Chess Club: Weekly competitions and state tournaments
Newspaper Club: A monthly newspaper full of interesting articles
At Northridge Prep Middle School, the boys receive an education that will not only make them better students, but better men. Come visit our school to experience the Adventure of a Northridge Prep education!
