Step One: Shadow Day
All prospective students are cordially invited to spend a day at Northridge Prep for what we call a “Shadow Day.” During his visit, an applicant will be assigned a student guide who will accompany him for the entire day. He will attend classes and experience what a typical day at Northridge Prep is like. We prefer to have students visit on Fridays but are open to any day that is convenient for you and your family. In order to schedule a Shadow Day, contact our Director of Admissions, Jack Conroy, either by phone at 847.375.0600 x112, or by email at jconroy@northridgeprep.org.
For the applicant’s Shadow Day, it is important to note the following:
• Arrival time is 8:15 a.m., and pickup is to be scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
• Attire includes khaki pants, a white or blue dress shirt, and a tie
• A change of clothes and shoes are needed for gym
• Lunch will be provided
Step Two: Application for Admission
In order to begin the application process to Northridge Prep, prospective students must first submit a completed application package. A link to the official application for admission can be found below. This must be completed in its entirety and submitted to the school along with:
• A copy of the applicant’s most recent standardized test scores (e.g. Terra Nova or ISAT)
• A copy of the applicant’s most recent report cards for both the current and prior year
• The applicant’s two personal statements (the prompts for which are contained in the Application for Admission)
• A $50 application processing fee (make checks payable to “Northridge Prep”)
In addition to the above components, the school also requires a Letter of Recommendation for the applicant. This form can be found in the Application for Admission, and must be completed by a teacher or administrator at the applicant’s current school. This teacher or administrator must then submit the form directly to Northridge Prep. Instructions for this can be found directly on the Letter of Recommendation form.
Please note that an application package will be considered incomplete until all required documentation has been submitted. Incomplete application packages are ineligible for review by the admissions committee until completed.

Step Three: Entrance Exam
All students applying to Northridge Prep, regardless of grade level, are required to take the NRP entrance exam. This exam lasts approximately two hours, and can be scheduled by contacting the Admissions Office at 847.375.0600 x112.
Step Four: Application Review and Conference with the Headmaster
Following your son’s Shadow Day, the Admissions Committee will meet to review his file. The final step will be for the applicant and both parents to come in for a brief interview with the Headmaster. This interview is required and typically lasts about 30 minutes.
Step Five: Enrollment Contract
If the applicant is granted admission to Northridge Prep, an enrollment contract package will be mailed to your home. The contract must be completed and returned with the $500 non-refundable deposit within 14 days to secure a place in next year’s class.
