Northridge Preparatory School Dress Code Dress and appearance not only reflect the attitude of an individual, but also influence the attitudes of others and contribute to an overall tone. Different situations warrant different appearances. As our objective here at Northridge is one of serious study and character formation, we dress in a manner that promotes a tone of professional excellence. Simply put, we want our students to look “sharp.” And as members of the larger Northridge community, students have an obligation to look their best for one another. Accordingly, below are the parameters for the Northridge Preparatory School dress code.

1. With the exception of the sport coat (upper school) or burgundy vest (lower school) and the tie, students are expected to be in compliance with the dress code when on school grounds. Sport coats or vests and ties may remain in students’ lockers during before-school and after-school activities but must be worn during the regular school day (8:30-3:15). All apparel must be clean and free of damage. Students will adhere to the dress code for as long as they are in the building.
2. Shirts will remain tucked, collars will remain buttoned and ties will remain tied and pulled up at all times.
3. Sport coats and vests are to be worn from the first day of school until the last day of school. In the case of extremely warm weather, an announcement will be made by the Headmaster at the beginning of school declaring a “non-sport coat/non-vest” day.
4. Students should take care to place their initials or name on all items of clothing so that they are easily recognizable should they be misplaced or claimed by another.
5. Hair styles should reflect well-groomed professionalism. Hair should not extend below the eyebrows, over the ears or over the collar. Haircuts should reflect the shape of the head and have no unnatural color. Haircut mandates will be given by Wednesday and must be complied with by the following Monday.
6. All students must be clean-shaven. No facial hair will be allowed.
