Northridge wants to instill in our students a spirit of service. We need to raise the consciousness level of our students to see more than the world immediately in front of them. We would like our students to live what John Paul II called the “gift of self”. Also, an emphasis on service is in keeping with how NRP educates the whole person, not just the academic realm. Special work at home can be considered service, but it must be different from normally assigned tasks. We require 20 hours for middle school and 40 hours for high school. The religion and humanities teachers will keep track of the hours each quarter; the service hours could be considered a project grade.
